Nurse forged prescriptions for Lortab

JACKSON – A former director of nurses at a nursing home has been indicted for allegedly forging prescriptions for the controlled substance Lortab. Gina Boling, 48, was arrested and charged after Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood said she either acquired or obtained possession of the drug by misrepresentation or fraud.

Boling was the director of nurses at Quitman County Nursing Home and Hood said she forged the signature of a nurse practitioner on the prescriptions and then converted the narcotics for her own use.

Hood said from October 2008 to November 2009, Boling acquired more than 800 Lortabs for herself, for which Medicaid paid for.

Boling was indicted by a Quitman County Grand Jury.

If she is convicted, Hood said Boling faces up to 40 years in jail and an $8,000 fine.

Boling’s case was investigated by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit of the Attorney General’s Office.
