Woman was Bingo Supervisor

A woman who was once employed as the Bingo Supervisor for a local VFW, has now been charged with taking money from the account. Fifty-one year old Sheila Evans, of D’Iberville, was arrested and charged with embezzlement, for allegedly stealing $18,000 from the bingo account of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Evans’ son, Garrett Evans, 25, was also arrested and charged with grand larceny for allegedly stealing money from VFW deposits his mother was responsible for.

Evans was fired from her job in November 2010, after investigators found discrepancies in deposits for accounts she managed.

Authorities said Garrett allegedly stole money from those accounts on a regular basis.

Evans and her son are each being held on a $25,000 bond at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center.

Man charged with stealing car from Wal-Mart parking lot

An Ocean Springs man has been charged with grand larceny after allegedly stealing a car from a Wal-Mart parking lot and using it to commit another crime. Joshua Correy Young, 25, was arrested on Dec. 28 after the Mississippi Highway Patrol stopped to assist a disabled vehicle near U.S. Highways 67 and 15 in Harrison County.

On Dec. 12, 2010, a 2001 white Saturn SL2 was reported stolen from the Wal-Mart parking lot in Ocean Springs. On Dec. 27, authorities issued a BOLO for the same vehicle after the driver was allegedly involved in a shoplifting incident in the D’Iberville area.

On Dec. 28, troopers stopped to assist a disabled vehicle on the highway and discovered it was stolen. Young, the driver, was taken into custody and transported to the Ocean Springs Police Department.

Suspects sought in nightclub robbery

Greenville police are still searching for the three men who robbed several nightclub patrons at gunpoint on Thursday, Dec. 30. The incident occurred about 11:40 p.m., at the High Five Club, in the 1100 block of Nelson Street.

Authorities said about five people were inside the club watching television when the three suspects came in and fired a gun. Everyone was ordered to the floor and then robbed.

Suspects took cash from all five victims.
