WTVA News is reporting that at least 12 students were sent to area hospitals after their school bus collided with a car while returning from a school field trip earlier today.
The accident occured this afternoon in Alcorn County, and the students were from Biggersville Elementary in Alcorn County.
WTVA said none of the students reportedly suffered any direct injuries from the accident, but were taken to the hospital as a precaution to check for back and neck injuries.
Highway patrol officials said the school bus driver pulled into the path of a car. The car’s driver was also sent to the hospital with unknown injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
