Husband suffered leg injuries

A Harrison County woman is being held on a $50,000 bond after police said she ran down her husband with her car pinning him against a fence. Stacey Hooker, 37, of Gulfport, was charged with one count of domestic violence aggravated assault following an incident that occurred on Aug. 4.

Police said Hooker and her husband were traveling in their vehicle, reportedly, a Mercury Mountaineer SUV, when they began to argue. Investigators said the husband told Hooker to stop the vehicle and he got out walking away on foot.

Authorities said Hooker then drove the vehicle into her husband, pinning him against a fence.

Police arrived on the scene, in the 2800 block of 33rd Avenue, about 7:09 p.m.

The man complained of pain in his legs and he was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Hooker was charged and taken to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center.

Suspects arrested in McDonald’s robbery

Jackson police have made an arrest in the armed robbery of a McDonald’s earlier this month, and they anticipate more arrests will come. Officer Colendula Green, of the Jackson Police Department (JPD) said 27-year old Dexter Bratton, of Jackson, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals’ Task Force on Aug. 16 on a fugitive warrant for house burglary and a probation violation.

Bratton reportedly admitted his involvement in the robbery of the McDonald’s located on Woodrow Wilson Drive in Jackson.

Green said on Aug. 1, two black males walked up to the drive-thru window and demanded money from the clerk. A witness followed the suspects as they fled on foot.

A further investigation by the JPD led to Bratton and another suspect who also lives in Jackson.

Bratton was charged with one count of armed robbery of a business, and detectives are attempting to recover evidence from the robbery.

Additional arrests are expected

Three men charged with sex crimes

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department has arrested three men on non-related sex crimes. Kelvin Dewayne Chapman Sr, 36, of Ocean Springs, was charged with one count of sexual battery with a child under the age of 12. Authorities said Chapman also has prior misdemeanor charges in Jackson County.

Jacob Daniel Charlton, 24, of Pascagoula, was charged with one count of sexual battery against a minor under the age of 16. His bond was set at $1,000 which he posted and was released.

Shaun Paul Savell, 33, of Vancleave, was charged with rape. His bond was set at $50,000 which he posted and was released.

Captain Mick Sears, of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, said no details about any of the cases could be released due to non-disclosure.
