Clarksdale Police are looking for three men who forced their way into a residence and robbed five victims at gunpoint. Captain Robbie Linley said about 10:24 p.m., on April 9, three black males forced their way into a home in the 800 block of Pecan Street and held four men and a woman at gunpoint.

Linley said the robbers made off with a cell phone, the victim’s wallets and cash, and the woman’s purse.

The incident remains under investigation.

Indiana fugitive caught in Grenada

Grenada County Sheriff Alton Strider said a man wanted for a felony DUI in Indiana has been apprehended. Strider said Sam Spearman, 42, was picked up on Powell Road in Holcomb.

A warrant had been issued for Spearman’s arrest after he failed to appear on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated in Indiana.

Strider said Spearman is from Grenada County and was staying in Holcomb at the time of his arrest.

The Grenada County Sheriff’s Department was assisted in the arrest by the U.S. Marshals.

State wetlands gets $999K grant

United States Representative Bennie Thompson announced that The North American Wetlands Conservation Fund has awarded $999,384 to the Mississippi Delta WMA Wetland Habitat Enhancements II Project.

The award was based on a recommendation by the North American Wetlands Conservation Council. It was approved by the Migratory Bird Conservation Council.
