Houston TX — Hinds County Judge LaRita Cooper Stokes heart is still racing in a Houston, Texas hospital, according to the Stokes family spokesperson.
She is reportly under the care of Houston’s best cardiologists, yet they are unable to bring her heart rate down. A normal resting heart rate for adults ranges from 60 to 100 beats a minute. Generally, a lower heart rate at rest implies more efficient heart function and better cardiovascular fitness. For example, a well-trained athlete might have a normal resting heart rate closer to 40 beats a minute.
Judge Stokes’ heart rate is upwards 170. She is able to rest but it’s a scary time for the family. He husband, Jackson City Councilman Kenneth Stokes is with her.
The family is asking the public to pray for her and her family. Alice Tisdale is still acting as spokesperson for the Stokes family.
