BOLTON – Congressman Bennie Thompson (D-MS) said two Mississippi teens, one from Madison and another from Vicksburg, have received prestigious military offers.

Michael Jacobson, a May 2012 graduate from Madison Central High School, received a nomination to the U.S. Naval Academy and he was accepted at the academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

Jacobson’s parents are Joseph and Rachel Jacobson of Madison.

Jose Sanchez, a May 2012 graduate of St. Aloysius High School in Vicksburg, received a nomination from the U.S. Military Academy and was accepted at West Point in New York.

Sanchez is the son of Jose and Daisy Sanchez, and like Jacobson, was active in various school clubs and activities, sports JROTC and other community and volunteer organizations.

Thompson said each candidate received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for their outstanding academic achievements.

“In order for America to continue to serve as a catalyst for promoting democracy and freedom world-wide, it must maintain an excellently trained military force,” said Thompson. “These young people have demonstrated the prerequisite skills and qualifications for a successful military career. I am confident they will excel in accomplishing any goals they have established for attending a military academy, and will have a rewarding future.”
