“Gay Is The New Black” – that’s what the headline reads…. Gay Is The New Black…

Since when has being black been a new thing? I could have sworn it was well established back in the biblical days? Admittedly, many don’t comprehend that when the scriptures are speaking of black (Africans) it could be an array of folks from the northern borders (Egypt) to the lower third (South Africa). But this statement is making a case that sexual orientation is the same as genetic coding of melanin pigment in the skin. Is this a true statement of fact or not?

Many of us have had relatives that seemed marked to be confused since birth. You know what I’m speaking of, that guy in the family that always hung out with the ‘girl’ cousins or that tomboy who could always keep up with her brothers in athletic ability and talking smack… but is this genetics?

The Bible clearly says, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” So what is the proof of whether or not this is true or not? Does God create men and women with homosexual genes? Are all men created burly and all women dainty? Is this a perversion of man or a misunderstanding of an unenlightened religious point of view?

God created male and female distinct from each other; not the same way in all characteristics.

Yes, its true, some men are more masculine than others, and some women more effeminate than others. We have proof of that in the scriptures.

Look at the comparisons between Jacob and Esau. God created both men in their mother’s womb. In the same womb we have a diverse expression of men in their physical make up.

Genesis 25:26-28 (King James Version) reads: (26) And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau’s heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them. (27) And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.

(28) And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.

Now take note of their appearance and the contrast between the two men: Genesis 27 (King James Version) reads: (11) And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man:

So we see that the two men are quite different from each other in appearance, but the truth in noting the difference is this – they were both “still men” and the promise came through Jacob whose name was changed to Israel and from whom the 12 tribes of Israel were begat.

Genetically being smoothed skin and roughly haired is not a choice. Sexual orientation, as strong as it may be, is a choice. We see too many examples of God’s judgment of fornicators as being wrong. Now please keep in mind, fornicators are those who have sex outside the arrangement of marriage (that’s hetro and homosexual contact). Both are wrong.

Here’s a quick side note – so if you’re shacking, you’re just as wrong as the gays you point your fingers at.

In many cases, homosexual behavior can be reinforced as acceptable by dressing him up in the dressing he likes, or calling her the “boy name” she likes to go by. Both are an abomination and nothing new. In fact, Paul talks about the sin of cross dressing and homosexuality as two separate ills according to God’s will.

1 Corinthians 6:8-10 (King James Version) reads:

(8) Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren. (9) Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, (10) Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners; shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Notice the word, “effeminate” – this means to take on the softer characteristics of a women for allurement sake. The original word is transliterated “Malakos” meaning: a male who submits his body to unnatural lewdness, male prostitute. Then in the same passages we see the phrase, “abusers of themselves with mankind.” What does this mean? The transliterated word in connection with this phrase ending with ‘mankind’ is ‘Arsenokoits, which means one (is male) who lies with a male as with a female, sodomite. So this covers cross dressing for gender bending and homosexuality. That flies in the face of ‘genetic disposition’ and not having a choice.

The problem is, we do not turn our backs on anyone struggling with homosexuality. It is against God’s will. Mind you, struggling and embracing are two totally different points of view. Some have embraced their base sexual desires for the taboo to the point of saying they were created that way; not so.

Take note of the Romans. And most don’t realize this, but these people are “in” the church with a belligerent attitude about their sexual sin of homosexuality, not outside the church as most assume. And, in order to make the point easier to understand, let’s take a look at this easy to understand version for clarity of what the Holy Spirit directed the Apostle Paul to write to the church that was located in Rome.

Romans 1:26-32 (Contemporary English Version) reads:

(26) God let them follow their own evil desires. Women no longer wanted to have sex in a natural way, and they did things with each other that were not natural. (27) Men behaved in the same way. They stopped wanting to have sex with women and had strong desires for sex with other men. They did shameful things with each other, and what has happened to them is punishment for their foolish deeds.

(28) Since these people refused even to think about God, he let their useless minds rule over them. That’s why they do all sorts of indecent things. (29) They are evil, wicked, and greedy, as well as mean in every possible way. They want what others have, and they murder, argue, cheat, and are hard to get along with. They gossip.

(30) Say cruel things about others, and hate God. They are proud, conceited, and boastful, always thinking up new ways to do evil. These people don’t respect their parents. (31) They are stupid, unreliable, and don’t have any love or pity for others. (32) They know God has said that anyone who acts this way deserves to die. But they keep on doing evil things, and they even encourage others to do them.

Take special note of the last verse, “but they keep doing evil things, and they even encourage others to do them.” This is clearly why today’s attitude toward homosexual behavior is being termed as the new ‘black.’ I’m very offended by the remark, and even worse, it was shown recently with two black men wearing t-shirts proclaiming it.

What’s the solution? Everybody has the temptation of sex, whether it is homo or heterosexual; its fornication in both cases. God requires that ALL OF US refrain from using our bodies for that purpose.

Romans 12:1-2 tells us that “Christ Brings New Life.”

(1) Dear friends, God is good. So I beg you to offer your bodies to him as a living sacrifice, pure and pleasing. That’s the most sensible way to serve God. (2) Don’t be like the people of this world, but let God change the way you think. Then you will know how to do everything that is good and pleasing to him.

Pure and pleasing is required of all of us. It’s hypocritical to point fingers as the person trying to come out of that lifestyle and you’ve been living with your boyfriend or girlfriend for whatever period of time. Both are wrong. Both must be repented of. And both are hard to conquer. However, God answers that question with scripture as well by saying:

(6) Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God.

(7) Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel.

(8) Finally, my friends, keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don’t ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise.

(9)You know the teachings I gave you, and you know what you heard me say and saw me do. So follow my example. And God, who gives peace, will be with you.

As we continue to read we find out that “Paul gives thanks for the gifts he was given.”

(10) The Lord has made me very grateful that at last you have thought about me once again. Actually, you were thinking about me all along, but you didn’t have any chance to show it.

(11) I am not complaining about having too little. I have learned to be satisfied with [a] whatever I have.

(12) I know what it is to be poor or to have plenty, and I have lived under all kinds of conditions. I know what it means to be full or to be hungry, to have too much or too little.

(13) Christ gives me the strength to face anything.

Bro. Paul Williams has been the minister of the Metro East Church of Christ, 1820 Hwy 80 W., Jackson, since the planting of the local congregation.

His previous experience included laboring at the Tinnin Road Church of Christ in Clinton, Miss. for two years before being led to plant the Metro East congregation.

His degree in Bible with a minor in counseling was earned at the Magnolia Bible College in Koscuisko, Miss. in 2004. His previous education includes a degree in meteorology earned at Jackson State University in 1993, and a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications in 1989, at the same university.

Bro. Paul, as he’s often referred, met his wife in college, the former Eve Hart, who graduated with honors from JSU in 1993.They are parents of three daughters, all who continue to work in the vineyard of the Lord’s church.

Bro. Paul and the Metro East congregation have recently moved to Highway 80 West in the old Wilson Dodge building with a vision of transforming the Washington Addition neighborhood and all surrounding areas with the healing teachings of God’s word, one soul at a time.
