Man throws Molotov cocktail into residence

Two men from Jackson have been arrested and charged with arson in two separate incidents. Police said Arthur Jackson, 19, was recently arrested for trying to set a house on fire in the 2100 block of Lee Avenue on Feb. 20.

Authorities said Jackson tried to burn the house down by throwing a Molotov cocktail into the residence. Police said Jackson had just had a domestic dispute with his girlfriend who lived at the residence.

The house sustained minor damage and no one was injured.

Lawrence Frazier, 26, was also arrested for trying to start a fire at a residence on Willorun in South Jackson.

WLBT reported that Frazier and his girlfriend had a domestic dispute and Frazier got angry and tried to torch the woman’s home.

Frazier, a convicted felon on parole, was arrested at his residence and charged with arson.

That home also sustained minor damage.

Police search for hit-and-run driver

Authorities in Greenville are looking for the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a man while he was riding a bicycle. Police said Wade Hamilton was riding his bike south on Raceway Road, about 1 a.m., when he was struck by a vehicle.

Captain Andrew Kaho of the Greenville Police Department said Hamilton, the father of six, was hit from behind by the motorist, and left in the roadway unattended.

Hamilton was later transported to Delta Regional Medical Center where he died of his injuries.

Kaho said Hamilton’s bike had reflectors, but no lights.
