JACKSON - Officials with the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) said two inmates from the Forrest County Community Worker Center went missing Saturday evening about 5 p.m.MDOC Spokesperson Tara Booth said 26-year-old David Bass and 22-year-old James Robert Martin walked off a work detail at the Forrest County facility in Hattiesburg and were last seen wearing MDOC state-issued green and white striped pants and white MDOC shirts with “MDOC Convict” printed on the back.Booth said Martin is a 5’9” white male with a small build with blues eyes, blonde hair and weighs 150 pounds. Martin is serving a five-year sentence for a grand larceny conviction from Monroe County.Martin has multiple tattoos including a 6-point star on his lower right arm and a cross on his lower left leg.James Robert Martin
Bass, is a 5’9” white male with a medium build with receding blonde hair, blue eyes and weighs 180 pounds. Bass is serving a seven-year sentence for five burglary convictions from Lee County.
Bass also has multiple tattoos on both of his lower arms.

An escaped Rankin County inmate was discovered dead in his jail cell one day after being found in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Officials with the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) said 27-year-old Bryan Owens was found hanging from his cell late Tuesday afternoon.
MDOC Spokesperson Tara Booth said officers were serving dinner when they found Owens hanging from a sheet in his cell.
Owens was housed alone, Booth said, and he was pronounced dead at 5:09 p.m.
Authorities said a Greenwood man accused of raping his ex-girlfriend on several different occasions is scheduled for his preliminary hearing on Wednesday, Sept. 5.
