CORINTH, Miss. (AP) – The city of Corinth expects to spend $4 million on streets and bridge improvements for a primary corridor to the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center.
Mayor Tommy Irwin tells The Daily Corinthian (http://bit.ly/1Gvj4aT ) the project has been recommended for $3.2 million through the Eastern Federal Lands Access Program. The city would provide about $790,000.
The project will include replacement of the bridge near Henry Cemetery and updates to several streets, including a route recommended by the National Park Service for use by visitors from Shiloh National Military Park to the interpretive center.
Officials say work will include some additional sidewalks that help to link the downtown with the interpretive center.
The federal lands grants are distributed by formula among states that have federal lands managed by federal agencies.
