Suspect was aggressive with children

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigations is looking into the case of a Jackson County man who died after being tasered by deputies. Blaine Terrell McElroy, 37, was transported to Ocean Springs Hospital after he struggled with deputies at a home in Gulf Park Estates.

McElroy’s girlfriend initially called authorities because she and McElroy had a domestic dispute and he became aggressive with other adults and children in the home.

When deputies arrived, they tasered McElroy when he became combative. He died shortly thereafter.

WLOX reported that forensic pathologist Dr. Paul McGarry later said McElroy died of a cocaine overdose.

The case has been turned over to the district attorney, the MBI and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).
