Arrest made in bank robbery

PASCAGOULA – Minutes after he allegedly robbed a Jackson County bank at gunpoint, a Mobile, Alabama man was arrested and charged by Pascagoula Police. Jerome Floyd Bridges, 48, was apprehended after fleeing the scene at the Singing River Federal Credit Union on Market Street, in Pascagoula.

Authorities said Bridges entered the bank about 9:50 a.m., on Dec. 6, wearing a baseball cap, a wig and sunglasses. Bridges allegedly brandished a small handgun and demanded money from all the tellers on duty.

Pascagoula police said Bridges fled with an undisclosed amount of money in a white Toyota Camry heading east on Old Mobile Highway.

About three minutes later, Bridges was spotted by police on 14th and Amonett Streets and he was quickly taken into custody, without incident.

The money taken during the robbery and other evidence related to the crime were recovered from Bridges’ person and his vehicle.

Bridges was charged with armed robbery and he is currently being held without bond in a Pascagoula jail.

Bridges was scheduled to appear in court for his initial appearance later this week.
