After a long day of fishing, one man's day took a turn for the worse when he drove his car into the water at the old Broadwater property, WLOX reported.

The man was leaving the property in his 2003 Ford Mustang GT just after 2 p.m., on Aug. 14 when he told police he bent down to reach for cigarettes on his floorboard, and before he could regain control of his vehicle, he was headed into the water.

He wasn't injured in the accident and was able to climb out through a window. It took about 20 minutes to pull the vehicle from the water, WLOX reported.

Amtrak train hits vehicle in south Miss.

Amtrak officials said the City of New Orleans passenger train struck an unoccupied vehicle in Pike County, south of McComb.

WLBT-TV reports the crash happened about 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9.

Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari said no one was hurt on the train or on the ground.

He says part of a vehicle was obstructing the track and the train “clipped'' it.

Magliarai was not sure of the type of vehicle involved and it was not immediately clear whether the vehicle was parked on the track or at a railroad crossing.

The Pike County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash.

The train, which left Chicago Aug. 8 with 217 passengers, continued on to New Orleans later Friday.
