Outstanding choral music students from every middle and high school in
Jackson Public Schools will combine voices from 7-8:30 p.m. April 21 for
the district’s annual Secondary Choral Music Festival. The concert will
be held at Black’s Chapel Church at 3425 Robinson Street, an adopter of
Siwell Middle School in the JPS Partners in Education program. There is no
admission charge.
About 150 middle school students will perform first, followed by a choir
of approximately 125 high school students. The students will be wearing
the colorful choir robes of their respective schools. The concert
culminates two days of extended musical studies and enrichment with guest
clinicians. The high school students rehearsed at Callaway High School at
601 Beasley Road from 9-3 p.m. April 20-21, while the middle school
students practiced at Blackburn Middle School at 1311 West Pearl Street
from 9-4 p.m. April 20 and 9-1:30 p.m. April 21.
The chair of the middle school choral music directors is Pamela Moody of
Siwell Middle School, while the high school chair is Marquis Ezell of
Callaway High.
