HERNANDO – Officials from Shamrock Plan Flooring, a division of J.T. Shannon Lumber, said the company is expanding its presence in north Mississippi by locating manufacturing operations in the 62,900-square-foot facility formerly occupied by Stylecraft Lamps in Hernando, Miss., in DeSoto County. The project represents a company investment of $1 million and will create approximately 25 new jobs.
Shamrock Plank Flooring, manufacturer of high-end hardwood flooring, also has operations in Horn Lake, Miss., where the company has 140 employees.
“I appreciate J.T. Shannon Lumber for its continued investment in Mississippi and confidence in our workforce,” Governor Phil Bryant said. “By locating these new operations in Hernando, the company is demonstrating that 'Mississippi Works!' and that our business climate is favorable for companies looking to expand or locate in the state.”
The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) provided assistance in support of the project for infrastructure improvements. The Nesbit Water Association and the City of Hernando provided assistance for the project, as well.
“J.T. Shannon Lumber has been a valued member of Mississippi's business community for more than three decades, and I am grateful to the company for further investing in our state and creating jobs for the residents of north Mississippi,” said MDA Executive Director Brent Christensen. “MDA is honored to have assisted with this project, and we appreciate our local partners in Hernando for working to make this project possible.”
Headquartered in Horn Lake, J.T. Shannon Lumber has been in operation there since 1982. The company, which also has operations in Indiana, is one of four companies operating under The Shannon Group. In addition to J.T. Shannon Lumber, The Shannon Group is the parent organization of Superior Hardwoods, Shamrock Plank Flooring and Shannon Lumber International.
