Ribbon-cutting ceremony for new business in Louisville

LOUISVILLE – State and local officials gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the site of the new Louisville Transload Facility in Louisville. The city of Louisville, along with the Winston County Economic Partnership, purchased land with an existing rail line and spur and created the Louisville Transload Facility.

This facility is open to the use of all companies in Louisville, Winston County and the surrounding areas for on- and off- loading rail cars on the Kansas City Southern line.

Prior to the creation of this facility, companies had to transport their shipments to a private rail facility at a greater distance and at a significant expense.

Existing area companies: Thomasson Lumber Company, Rives and Reynolds Lumber Company and Temtco Steel have committed to utilizing the facility for their shipping needs. Rives and Reynolds has committed to expand and create 15 new jobs as a result of this project.

The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) provided assistance through the Rural Impact Fund grant program to help facilitate the development of the Louisville Transload Facility.

The City of Louisville, Winston County and the Tennessee Valley Authority also provided assistance for this project, and the city has pledged to maintain and operate the facility. In addition, Temtco Steel has donated a forklift for on and off loading and will be paying for fencing across the front of the property.
