Pharmacist stops would-be robber

NEW ALBANY – A Union County pharmacist is being haled a hero after he wrestled a would-be robber to the ground and held her until police arrived. Stan Dillon, the owner of the Medical Center Pharmacy, on Oxford Street, was able to overpower 37-year old Angel Johnson after she forced him out of the building at gunpoint.

Authorities said Johnson walked into the pharmacy, pointed a gun at the clerks, and demanded they put all of the Lortab pills in a bag.

Johnson then took Dillon, at gunpoint, through a rear door of the building and out to her car.

As Johnson put her gun, a .40 caliber glock, in her purse to get in the car, Dillon grabbed her and wrestled her to the ground.

Police arrived shortly thereafter and took Johnson into custody.

Authorities said Johnson, who is from Potts Camp, will also be charged with the robbery of another pharmacy in Holly Springs. On Nov. 6, officials said Johnson allegedly entered the Robinson’s Drug Store and also asked for Lortab tablets.

The pharmacist on duty told Johnson she needed a prescription and Johnson allegedly brandished a weapon and asked for the drugs again.

Johnson is being held at the Union County jail on a $500,000 bond.
