Mayor Harvey Johnson, Jr. shared his selections for Jackson School Board Members last night during the City Council meeting. Johnson re-appointed Jonathan Larkin to serve out the remaining year and a half left on the Ward 1 slot and appointed Kisiah Nolan for the Ward 4 position and George Schimmel for the Ward 7 position.

Jonathan Larkin has served on the school board since 2003. He and his wife Dana have two adult daughters who both graduated from Murrah High School. Larkin is the national vice president of sales for Regal Mirror and Art Company.

Kisiah Nolan retired from the Jackson Public School District where she worked as a teacher, principal and assistant superintendent for forty five years.

George Schimmel is a retired cardiologist whose three children also all graduated Jackson Public Schools.

“I have no doubt that these three individuals have a strong commitment to the Jackson Public School District,” said Mayor Johnson. “I have confidence in their ability to work for the best interests of the administrators, teachers and students.”

All three appointees are subject to council approval. A confirmation hearing is set for Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.
