Four teenagers die in Jones County wreck

16971057-smallCALHOUN, Mississippi (AP) — Jones County Sheriff Alex Hodge says four teenagers have died in a one-car wreck in the Calhoun community.

He says speed and failure to wear seat belts were factors when the car hit a tree, throwing all four out.

Hodge says 16-year-old Olivia Wells, her 13-year-old sister, Elizabeth Wells, and 14-year-old Ethan Heinrich died on the scene Friday. Deputies say Brandi Smith, whom they described as 19 years old, was taken off life support Saturday.

In a comment on WDAM-TV’s website, Dan Livingston, who described himself as a minister who saw Smith’s mother grow up, said Smith was 18 years old.
