Faculty member shot at JSU

 JACKSON, Miss. – A faculty memeber that was shot Monday night on the campus of Jackson State University has been identified as Andrea M.Scott.

According to authorities, Scott was shot near the John H. People’s Science Building. Police were called around 7 p.m. to the scene.

Scott’s husband, Bill  said his wife was shot twice in the back of the head. “Her jaw is shattered on the left side and she could lose hearing in her left ear,” he said.

Scott, A JSU researcher is in intensive care at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

It is believed that the incident is armed robbery related.

JSU issued a  Blue Alert  to inform students and faculty members  about the incident. A Blue Alert is a means of communicating  via text message and email about campus emergencies and safety notifications.
