Brown heading to Washington to meet new colleagues

BOSTON – Sen.-elect Scott Brown is paying a courtesy visit to Capitol Hill.
The newly elected replacement for Sen. Edward Kennedy planned to travel to Washington on Thursday for a round of meetings with his new colleagues.
First on his agenda was Sen. John McCain, a Brown backer and the 2008 GOP presidential nominee.
Next up are meetings with Sens. John Kerry and Paul Kirk, who currently represent Massachusetts.
Finally, Brown is scheduled to meet with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and attend a luncheon in the Capitol.
Brown stunned the Washing-ton political establishment by upsetting Democrat Martha Coakley and winning the seat the late Kennedy held for nearly a half century.
