MDOC raises more than $4k for community effort

JACKSON – The Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC), in a statewide effort, has raised $4,018.44 for Stewpot Community Services. The fundraising effort was in response to a partnership between New Horizon Church International (NHCI) and the MDOC. The NHCI is working toward a $300,000 goal to assist community services in the metro area.

Long term MDOC employees, James and Linda Holman (NHCI members), answered the call of NHCI Bishop Ronnie Crudup for community leaders to organize fundraisers within their respective organizations.

MDOC Commissioner Christopher B. Epps, a long time proponent of the Stewpot, wasted no time in committing the MDOC to the fund raising effort.

As a result of the fund raising effort, Commissioner Epps, accompanied by the Holmans, presented a $4,018.44 check to Bishop Ronnie Crudup and Frank Spencer, Stewpot Executive Director.

Commissioner Epps expressed his desire for the MDOC to always be a leader in reaching out to the less fortunate.
