JACKSON, Miss. — Jackson Public Schools officials placed Lake Elementary School on lockdown for more than an hour Tuesday after a man tried to run into the school.
Officials said police stopped a vehicle at about 1:15 p.m. Tuesday on Mount Vernon Avenue. Three people jumped from the vehicle and started running. One of the men tried to run into Lake Elementary School, but officers captured him as he entered the school.
The lockdown was lifted and students were dismissed for the day at 2:30 p.m., school officials said.
Police were searching for the two other men Tuesday afternoon.
