Water bottler to open $78M plant in near Byhalia, hiring 38

img_298BYHALIA, Miss. (AP) – A water bottling company will open a $78 million facility in Marshall County next year, hiring 38 workers.

Niagara Bottling, based in Ontario, California, is buying a 554,000-square-foot building in the Chickasaw Trail Industrial Park from Panattoni Development Co. Niagara makes private-label bottled waters, tea and sports drinks for retailers.

MDA spokeswoman Tammy Craft says one third of the cost will pay for the building, while Niagara will spend two-thirds on machinery and equipment.

Craft says the Mississippi Development Authority is giving $400,000 to improve infrastructure and $75,000 for worker training. The Appalachian Regional Commission is providing $200,000 to improve water and sewer infrastructure, while the Tennessee Valley Authority is providing unspecified aid.

Marshall County is also providing assistance. An official didn’t immediately respond to an email seeking details.
