26 student-athletes graduate during 2016 Fall Commencement

16-sports-jsu-1-picJackson State University held its 2016 Fall Commencement exercises December 9 at the Lee E. Williams Athletic and Assembly Center when 26 Tigers student-athletes received their degrees and embarked on a new journey in their lives.

JSU interim president Dr. Rod Paige, who conferred degrees to over 600 graduates, encouraged the newly minted alums to be leaders. “As a former football coach I can tell you this,” said Paige. “If you take what you have been given, you can either sit on the bench or get in the game.”

Ten sports were represented during the ceremony. 2016 Jackson State University Athletics Fall graduates:

Women’s Track and Field: Aniecia Brewster

Men’s Track and Field: Deshaun Allen

Football: Cornelius Henderson, Zavian Bingham, Alem Amores, Daniel Williams, Derrick Bobo, Joshua Bates, Vallemond German, Tre’ Jester, Ben Thomas, James Reid, Christian Marshall.

Men’s Basketball: Chace Franklin, Raeford “Gator” Worsham, Kenneth Taylor

Women’s Basketball: Kaylan Hughes

Women’s Tennis: Akshatha Ananth

Softball: Allison Hervey

Soccer: Arriana Rieland, Rhae’Ven Ellis

Volleyball: Tamisha Barry, Jenna Siddiqui

Women’s Tennis: Karina Ono

Baseball: Anthony Stricklin, Kendal Davis
