HATTIESBURG, Mississippi (AP) — Bond has been set at $150,000 for a 45-year-old Hattiesburg woman, who is accused in the second-degree murder of a Forrest County man.
The Hattiesburg American reports Melissa Cruz made her initial court appearance Tuesday in Forrest County Justice Court.
Forrest County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Nick Calico says Cruz allegedly ran over 45-year-old Keith Phillips Friday night.
Calico said the Cruz and Phillips knew each other but they were still investigating the extent of their relationship.
She remains in Forrest County Jail.
Online jail records do not list an attorney for Cruz.
