NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Former New Orleans Saints star running back Deuce McAllister is joining the radio broadcast for Saints games.

McAllister, whose appointment was announced by WWL radio on Wednesday, will serve as a color announcer alongside play-by-play announcer Jim Henderson.

The former Ole Miss standout, who remains the Saints’ all-time leading rusher more than seven years after playing his final game in 2008, takes the seat in the booth formerly occupied by the late Hokie Gajan, who died in April.

Gajan was a popular LSU and Saints running back who enjoyed a long career in sports radio after his playing days.

In a statement released by WWL, McAllister calls it “an honor to follow someone so entrenched in the history and tradition of Saints football” as Gajan was.
