CLINTON, Miss. (AP) – Mississippi College plans to renovate its main on-campus arena this summer.
The Southern Baptist college says it will spend $2.7 million to repair the domed A.E. Wood Coliseum. The school plans to fix damage from a 2013 hail storm that knocked loose insulation, re-caulk the roof, plus upgrade lighting.
Mississippi College says it plans to complete the work on the 3,500-seat arena before its summer graduation in August. The arena’s golden dome is a landmark for travelers on nearby Interstate 20.
The 5,000-student school will also spend $350,000 this summer to renovate Whittington Hall, a freshmen men’s dormitory. The work includes painting, floor replacement and lobby improvements.
