MONROE, La. (AP) – Jury selection continues Tuesday in the trial of a man accused of illegally using the debit card of a woman stabbed to death in northeast Louisiana. A judge ruled Monday that prosecutors must limit discussion of Meing-Chien Hsiao’s death. Quinton Tellis is charged with illegally using her debit card after she died, as well as possessing marijuana.
GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) – Six school districts in South Mississippi have been selected to participate in a state-sponsored computer science pilot program. The Mississippi Department of Education announced Hancock, Harrison, George, Pass Christian, Ocean Springs and Pascagoula school districts will begin training teachers for the program this summer.
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Twelve Mississippi airports will benefit from more than $4.15 million in grants awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation to help with facility upgrades. U.S. Sens. Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker, in a news release Monday, said the projects are in addition to 19 grants awarded in March for other projects.
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) – Those who love to fish will be able to do so without a license on any of the state’s public waters in June. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says it’s holding free recreational fishing days on June 11-12 for residents and non-residents.
