Angela Eastin, director of Habitat for Humanity Bay Waveland Area, tells WLOX-TV (http://bit.ly/1rONbep ) that Councilwoman Wendy McDonald’s skull was fractured Monday.

McDonald underwent surgery at Gulfport Memorial Hospital before being flown to Ochsner Health Center in New Orleans.

Mayor Les Fillingame tells The Sun Herald (http://bit.ly/24jLnLt ) that McDonald was on a sidewalk outside Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church when she was struck by a car. Fillingame says the driver was an older man whose foot slipped and hit the accelerator.

Councilman Doug Seal says at least two others were hurt.
