HOLLY SPRINGS, Mississippi (AP) — Authorities say former Ole Miss quarterback Maikhail Miller, 23, has died in a one-vehicle wreck.

Coroner James Anderson in Marshall County tells local outlets that that Miller’s Toyota SUV overturned Saturday evening near Holly Springs, and he was thrown out.

As a senior at Itawamba Agricultural High School, he was named a PrepStar All-American selection after throwing for 1,636 yards and 14 touchdowns and rushing for 1,148 yards and 22 scores.

Miller played for the Rebels in 2012-13 and then transferred to Murray State after Ole Miss signed highly recruited quarterbacks Devante Kincade and Ryan Buchanan. Miller left Murray State after a year.

He played in two games for Ole Miss, rushing six times for 23 yards.

At Murray State, he had 223 yards and three touchdowns in the 2013 season-opener against a Missouri team that went on to win the SEC East.

Overall, he completed 67 percent of his passes for 2,221 yards and 18 touchdowns, rushing for another 430 yards and five scores.

He told the Itawamba County Times in July that he left Murray State because “I just kind of fell out of love with football. I can’t really explain it, but I just wasn’t into the game anymore. It felt like more of a job.”
