The city of Jackson, Department of Planning and Development, Transit Services Division announced Tuesday that “Jackson Metro” is the winning name of the Name the Bus contest. The new name will be wrapped on buses used for special events in the city. The name was selected from a list of 14 preliminary options provided on a public survey. “Jackson Metro” received the most votes as the first choice of the respondents. “The name, ‘Jackson Metro,’ aligns with the direction we hope to take JATRAN,” said Eric Jefferson, director of the Department of Planning and Development. “We eventually would like to expand our transit services into neighboring areas.” A new logo will be designed for the special event buses, which will be unveiled at a later date.
