The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is now accepting applications for the Special Youth Waterfowl Hunt on Trim Cane Wildlife Management Area. The special youth hunt will be held Feb. 6. The WMA is an 891-acre property located in Oktibbeha County, approximately four miles north of Starkville off of Highway 389. The area has been developed primarily for waterfowl hunting and offers an excellent opportunity for youth waterfowl hunters. Trim Cane is easily accessible and is a prime area to introduce youth to waterfowl hunting. Youth hunters must be 15 years old or younger to apply for the waterfowl hunt. Applicants must apply online at www.mdwfp.com/draws before Jan. 15. Drawn hunters will be allowed to invite two guests that are 15 years old or younger on his or her permitted hunt. Each permitted youth hunter must be accompanied by one licensed, or exempt, non-hunting adult at least 21 years of age.
