Suspects in 2013 homicide apprehended

635694436956412565-saxton-brownYAZOO CITY, Miss. (AP) – Two suspects have been arrested in the 2013 slaying of a Yazoo City businessman.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation says in a news release that 36-year-old Johnny Mack Brown was arrested Tuesday.

Brown is charged with capital murder, conspiracy to commit capital murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and as a felon in possession of a firearm. Brown was denied bond in an initial court appearance.

MBI spokesman Warren Strain says Brown’s wife, 23-year-old Shontina Brown, is charged with capital murder, conspiracy to commit capital murder, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. She is being held without bond in the county jail.

Authorities say the body of 57-year-old Ricky Saxton was found in a field in Yazoo County on Nov. 13, 2013. Saxton was shot in the head.
