Jackson automotive store owner shoots, kills intruder

16529178-smallJACKSON, Mississippi (AP) — Police say a Jackson man was defending his business when he shot and killed an intruder on Saturday.

The Clarion-Ledger reports Jamie L. Rose was declared dead on the scene at First Line Automotive after police say he was trying to break into the store.

The store owner allegedly shot and killed him when he realized he was trying to break in around 11:10 p.m.

Rose was armed.

Jackson Police spokeswoman Colendula Green said the business owner was protecting his property, which would fall into the category of justifiable homicide.

The case will be sent to a grand jury.
