Pol Frederic, 71, identified as victim in fatal Moss Point house fire

16652192-smallMOSS POINT, Mississippi (AP) — Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a house fire that left a man dead in Moss Point.

Moss Point fire investigators told WLOX TV the fire ignited around midnight Friday. A husband and wife were inside the burning building. The wife escaped. But, her husband never made it out.

Firefighters spent almost six hours at the two-story home on Riverwood Drive.

They say it took them that long to extinguish the flames, find the victim’s body and remove it from the debris.

Deputy Coroner Jason Moody identified the victim as 71-year-old Pol Fredric.

Moody said Frederic died in the family room on the first floor of the home. The wife escaped unharmed.

The fire remains under investigation.
