HERNANDO, Mississippi (AP) — The coroner in DeSoto County has confirmed four deaths after a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 61.
The DeSoto Sheriff’s Office said Saturday night’s accident happened around 8:15 in the southbound lanes of the highway.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol says it appears that a northbound vehicle somehow got into the southbound lanes of the divided highway.
Coroner Jeff Pounders confirmed four deaths. The Commercial Appeal reports (http://bit.ly/1uOoP3x ) that officials also said two people suffered critical injuries.
