METAIRIE, Louisiana (AP) — New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis says the club has added four players following last weekend’s three-day rookie camp.

Loomis announced Monday that rookie receiver Steve Hull, rookie running back Derrick Strozier, veteran outside linebacker Cheta Ozougwu and veteran offensive lineman Thomas Welch were signed after taking part in rookie camp on a try-out basis. They’re now expected to participate in offseason practices and training camp.

Strozier was a defensive back at Tulane, but is trying to make it professionally as playmaker on offense. Hull was Illinois’ leading receiver last season. Ozougwu has seen action with Chicago and Welch has spent time with New England, St. Louis and Buffalo.

The club has also waived former Louisiana-Lafayette nose tackle Brandon McCray and former Michigan State guard Micajah Reynolds.

• The Saints also signed first-round pick Brandin Cooks on Sunday.

The wide receiver from Oregon State was the 20th selection in the draft.

Cooks won the Biletnikoff Award as the nation’s top wide receiver. As a junior last season, he set Pacific-12 Conference records with 128 catches for 1,730 yards. The 5-foot-10, 184-pound Cooks also broke the school record with 16 touchdowns receiving.

The Saints did not release terms of the four-year deal Sunday.
