JACKSON, Mississippi (AP) — A Jackson ophthalmologist has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of his wife at their home on Wednesday night.
Jackson Police Department spokeswoman Colendula Green says 68-year-old Dr. William Mayfield was denied bond during an appearance in municipal court Thursday.
Green says Mayfield is charged with murder in the death of 67-year-old Susan Mayfield. Susan Mayfield died at a local hospital.
Green says it appears the shooting was the result of an argument.
