LAUREL, Mississippi (AP) — A 32-year-old Jones County woman is dead and her mother is in custody after a dispute ended in gunshots.
WDAM-TV reports officers arrived Thursday afternoon at an address on Springdale Road and found Robin Keys lying in the front yard. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment of at least two gunshot wounds.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Wanda Benson tells The Chronicle the victim died.
Officers arrested 51-year-old Darlene Keys on a murder charge. As she was being taken to the Jones County Jail, WDAM reports Keys admitted shooting her daughter but she didn’t say what sparked the argument or shooting.
It was not immediately known if Keys had an attorney.
