FOREST, Mississippi (AP) — Authorities believe carbon monoxide probably poisoned four people whose bodies were found Wednesday in a house in rural central Mississippi.
Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee said deputies found a generator running and a heavy odor of exhaust gases when they entered the house near Forest at about 1:30 a.m. He said his office had received a call asking for someone to check on the people in the house.
He identifies the victims as 22-year-old Carlos Jermaine Boyd, 39-year-old Moises Hernandes Conde, 19-year-old Travis Hunt and 18-year-old Tiffany Weaver.
Lee said there was no sign of trauma on the bodies. Autopsies were being conducted at the state Crime Lab in Jackson.
A 17-year-old woman was found alive and was hospitalized. Her condition was not known. Her name has not been released
The sheriff said the relationships of the victims weren’t known.
Lee said the generator appeared to be powering two heaters in the house. He said there was no electricity turned on in the house.
