PEARL – (AP) A Mississippi distributor of frozen chicken has recalled nearly 2,500 pounds of meals because of misbranding and an undeclared allergen, according to the U.S. Department Agriculture.

Traditions Meal Solutions, located in Pearl, Miss., said in a news release last week that the 2,486 pounds of recalled frozen chicken meals contain milk but that it is not on the label. Milk is a known allergen.

Traditions Meal Solutions has recalled 2,500 pounds of frozen chicken meals that contain milk because it is not properly marked on the package. Milk is a known allergen.

The USDA said the problem was discovered by the firm during a routine label review. Milk is a sub-ingredient of the butter flavoring used in the product. The problem occurred after a change in formulation which resulted in milk being omitted from the label.

The products subject to recall include: a three-compartment tray containing “Lemon Pepper Chicken Breast Filet with Rib Meat Smoke Flavor Added / Mixed Vegetables / Basil and Garlic Fettuccine'' bearing the establishment number “P-13850'' inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The USDA said the products were produced and packaged on Oct. 5, 2012, Dec 19, 2012 and Jan. 28, 2013

The products were distributed to food service institutions nationwide.

The USDA and the company said they have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
