PASCAGOULA – Captain Davy Davis said a female pizza delivery driver was robbed and sexually assaulted late Friday night and her assailant is now in custody.

Davis said 27-year-old Michael Tyrone Moore Jr. called the restaurant and ordered several pizzas. When the delivery woman arrived, Moore was allegedly waiting for her armed with a knife. The victim, whom police did not name, said Moore dragged her behind an apartment complex, robbed her of the pizzas, her cash and her car keys before sexually assaulting her.

Davis said Moore was apprehended shortly thereafter.

“It was within three hours,” Davis said. “The victim was able to give a description of the assailant and local tips [also] helped investigators locate Moore. He had his preliminary hearing and his bond was set at $150,000.”

Moore has been charged with armed robbery, kidnapping and sexual battery. He is being housed at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center.
