Autopsy will determine cause of death

A Washington County man was found dead inside a truck partially submerged in a creek Sunday.

Authorities are trying to determine what caused the Chevy pickup to plunge into the Quitonia Creek on Murphy Road just east of Hollandale.

Deputies were called to the scene around 12:30 Sunday afternoon.

Washington County Sheriff’s Department Assistant Chief Billy Barber identified the victim as 54-year-old David Arrington.

Investigators said passersby spotted the Hollandale man inside the vehicle.

Arrington is believed to have been the water for a few hours before being found. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine actual cause of death.

JPD searches for auto burglary suspect

Jackson Police are hoping you can help them get a man charged with auto burglary off the streets.

A bench warrant for auto burglary has been issued for 28-year-old Burton Ferenzo of Jackson.

Police say Ferenzo is driving a blue 200 Chevy Impala with tinted windows. The license plate is HUH-582.

Penn. man accused of trying to defraud casino

Police have arrested a 25-year-old Pennsylvania man accused of trying to get $2,000 cash with a counterfeit credit/debit card over the week at a Mississippi casino.

The Sun Herald reports Eddy Pacheco of Allentown, Pa., was arrested Saturday night.

Biloxi police said Beau Rivage Resort and Casino reported the fraud after Pacheco presented his identification to obtain the cash and it was determined the card was fraudulent.

Pacheco was arrested without incident and was charged with credit/debit card fraud. Judge Albert Fountain issued the arrest warrant and set bond at $25,000. Pacheco was taken to the Harrison County Jail pending an initial appearance

Man sentenced to 12 years for selling ecstasy

A man has been sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to selling the drug ecstasy.

Court records say Eric Wilkes was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Natchez. The indictment in the case says he sold the drugs in Hinds County on several occasions in August and September of 2009.

He was indicted on five counts, including some for selling the designer drug BZP. He pleaded guilty to one count of selling ecstasy in April.

U.S. District Judge David C. Bramlette recommended that Wilkes participate in an intensive drug treatment program while in prison and a drug aftercare upon release. Bramlette also requested that Wilkes serve his sentence at the federal prison in Yazoo City.

He was ordered to remain in custody.
