VICKSBURG – A man who slapped a child at a daycare center in retaliation for his toddler being assaulted, failed to appear in court this week, but a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf.

Jamie Williams was charged with misdemeanor simple assault after an incident at the Kiddie City Child Care Center in Vicksburg.

Authorities said on June 23, Williams allegedly arrived at the facility and slapped a 6-year-old, whom he believed assaulted his child, but officials said Williams hit the wrong boy.

Authorities said a 9-year-old boy (pictured here kicking a toddler) assaulted younger children at the Kiddie City Child Care Center in Vicksburg.

WLBT reported that an investigation was launched into the daycare after a 9-year-old boy was caught on surveillance video hitting, punching, choking, kicking, and even biting toddlers.

The video shows the boy even waits until a daycare worker turns her head, and then he attacks his young victims, including a little girl that he repeatedly punches.

The 9-year-old assailant has since been removed from the daycare center.

One person, former daycare worker Sandra Trevillion, has been arrested and charged with two counts of contributing to the neglect of a minor, WLBT reported.

The Department of Human Services is also investigating the incidents, and other charges could be filed.
