Their purpose is to inform community leaders of the history of the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum project, gather artifacts and first-hand accounts from veterans of the Civil Rights Movement for possible inclusion in the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum, seek support and input from the community in planning the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum, and focus on the exhibit planning phase of the project.

Hank Holmes, Director of MDAH said: “We want citizens to know that their input is invaluable. We encourage you to come out to [these meetings] and share your thoughts. This museum is being built to honor your history and your opinion matters.”
