GUNTOWN – FBI officials are confirming that two bodies were found at the residence of a man suspected of kidnapping a woman and her three daughters, but they have not released the identity of the victims.

The Memphis Division of the FBI is requesting any information regarding the location of the four victims of a kidnapping that occurred in Hardeman County, Tennessee.

On Friday, April 27, authorities said Jo Ann Bain, 31, and her three daughters, Kyliyah Bain, 8, Alexandria Bain, 12, and Adrienne Bain, 14, were reported missing by her husband.

Jo Ann’s vehicle was later found abandoned.

An Amber Alert was issued May 4, 2012, by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).

The FBI uncovered information that Adam Mayes, a 35-year-old white male, is allegedly responsible for their disappearances.

Federal officials said Mayes was considered a “friend of the family,” and they spoke with him early in the investigation, but he later fled when law enforcement officers attempted to contact him again.

Mayes was last seen on May 1 in Guntown in Lee County, Miss.

Three days later on May 4, search warrants were executed at residences within the state and during that search investigators found two bodies in shallow graves behind a home belonging to Mayes and his family in the Alpine area between Baldwyn and New Albany, WTVA reported.

Autopsies were scheduled for Sunday to confirm the identity of the remains.

Officials believe that Mayes may have altered his appearance as well as those of the missing victims. Authorities have said that Mayes could be in Mississippi but he also has ties to Arizona, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.

The victims are believed to be in extreme danger and Mayes should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information that may lead to the location of Adam Mayes and the missing victims should immediately contact the Tennessee Fusion Center at 1-800-TBI-FIND (1-800-824-3463).
