A WLBT report

LEXINGTON – Holmes County authorities are investigating an accidental shooting involving a Jackson police officer and her husband.

Sheriff Willie March said deputies were called to the Holmes County Hospital after 5 p.m. Saturday in response to the report of an accidental shooting.

March said the shooting victim is Ricky Walker, age unavailable.

His wife is Officer Felicia Walker.

Ricky Walker told investigators that he was accidentally shot in the lower leg. According to March, he has since been transferred to a Jackson hospital.

Felicia Walker also told Holmes County authorities the shooting was an accident, but officials said she would not elaborate further.

March said Walker lives outside Lexington, but said it was unclear where the shooting actually occurred.

The investigation has not determined if the officer’s service revolver was the weapon involved. So far, no charges have been filed.

Officer Colendula Green, of the Jackson Police Department, said their department is also investigating the incident.
