LEAKE COUNTY – The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) is advising motorists of a traffic alert in Leake County between State Road 25 and the Madison County Line.
Starting Tuesday, March 27, and weather permitting, at approximately 10 a.m., traffic will be switched from the existing mainline roadway on to the newly constructed temporary detour roadway.
The detours will be in place over the next several months while the permanent bridge structures are built. The $8.9 million project was awarded to Tanner Construction Company, Inc. in Ellisville, Miss.
“While MDOT regrets any inconvenience to motorists, we are letting the public know that traffic is scheduled to be moved to the detour…,” said Central District Transportation Commissioner Dick Hall. “This is a necessary project that will improve safe driving conditions for motorists in the area.”
The project is scheduled to be completed in May of 2013.
